Chapter 8

Baby Hawks!

May 23:

At last, we can see the little hawks moving in the nest!

First Glimpse of a chick Here is our first glimpse of a little hawk. Actually, I see two! The top of a little head is barely visible to the right of the support limb. So adorable... I immediately started calling them Fuzzy and Wuzzy. Friend Patti said, "What about Buzzy? I bet he's down there too!"

These photos were actually taken at feeding time. Here is the rest of the story. Can you see Roxie's tail extending out of the nest to the right?

May 27:

The little hawks are most active at feeding time. Here is a photo I call "Bottoms Up," as one of the hawklets is pushed high up in the nest. I was surprised at the feather development and length of tail for this little guy. It may not be long before he begins exploring!
